    Hi, Many thanks for getting in touch in relation to this issue. I’d like to start by mentioning that my mother spent time in a Mother and Baby home in the 1970s – I’m very familiar with the horrific treatment women – and indeed children – received in these institutions. She was no exception. I believe absolutely that the exclusions mentioned are inappropriate and should be done away with.     Yes, I support an amendment to the legislation for more inclusive redress The Labour Party in government will review the operation of the existing redress scheme for survivors of Mother and Baby, and County homes. Far too many are fully excluded from the scheme, and we will extend redress to all those who spent time in the institutions due to the exclusionary six- month rule, ensure it includes those boarded out, and extend an enhanced medical card to all mothers affected.
